HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - March 17, 1982 (48)Dear Mr. Ortiz: The Lodi City Council at its regular meeting of March 17, 19-82, following- receipt of a complaint that Southern Pacific Transportation Company trains are blowing their train air horns unnecessarily and for excessively long periods of time as they pass through Lodi and during switching operations, directed that a communication be forwarded to you seeking an amicable solution to this problem. AR: dg 325 Daisy Avenue Lodi, CA 95240 March 11, 1982 Honorable Members of the Lodi City Council 331 Nest Pine Street Lodi, CA 95240 Gentlemen: 1 feet that the Southern Pacific Railroad is blowing the train air horns un- necessarily and for- excessively long periods of time, as they pass through town, and during switching -operations.. l.t is also a particularly .ctis.turbing. probtem on the General Mills spur track which runs through ars otherwise quiet residential area. Many citizens are disturbed by this excessive nosie, which is partsk-ul-arly bothersome during sleeping -hours. The problem seems to be getting progressively worse over time. it appears that the blowing is much more than necessary for safety purposes. On behalf of the many citizens that are disturbed by this noise. 1 request that the City Counci't-pursue whatever action necessary to ge-t the noise -ieves down. 1 request that the City also seek a meeting with officials at General Mills to discuss the problem of excessive horn blowing on the spur track. and to ask them to do whatever they can to help, Stneerely,.
