Council further approved a Special Allocation Request in the amount of $46,750 to redrill Well RIO, replace worn bowls and add 40'' of column and shaft and abandon two existing wells at the same location. CITY OF LODI PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT TO: City Council FROM: City Manager DATE: March 8, 1982 COUNCIL COMMUNICATION SUBJECT: Plans and Specifications for Well Drilling, Well 10 RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council approve the plans and specifications or ''Well Drilling, Well 10," and authorize the City Clerk to advertise for bids to be received Wednesday, March 31, 1.982. BACKGROUND INFORMATION': Well 10 is located near the Mokeiumne River at Guild Winery and serves the easterly industrial area:. Due to decreased pump efficiency and excessive sand production, the existing well'was taken out of service and a TV video scan was performed by a water well consultant. Due to the age and poor condition of the well, it was recommended that the existing, well be abandoned and a new well constructed. Allocation o Redrill Well #10 Well #10 is located in the north eastern limits of our water system. Recent dropping of well efficiencies and system pressure promoted staff to remove motor, column and pump bowls to investigate. During TVing well hole it was learned that interior is in an unfeasible state of repairs, in addition, the existing bowls which were installed in 1947 and rebuilt in 1967 have worn to a degree that replacement is cost effective. This well in addition to Well #11 are the only facilities located on the east side of Highway 99 and are now both out of service. It is felt that a high priority should be placed on Well #10 so to maintain adequate fire flows and satisfy customers needs this summer on the north eastern area of the water system. Below is estimated cost breakdown: Redrill Well #10 S 32.400 Abandon existing hole (2) 2.530 New bowls and additional 40' column and shaft installed 7.000 Clean, dip and bake 150 HP motor 600 Engineering and contingency 4,250 TOTAL $ 46.750
