For the reasons listed in the attached letter, I would
like to recommend ROBBINS COHPANY as the successful
bidder, with Alternate 02 Floor.
We now are using -their Moor, Alternate 12, and have
been using it for tea years with no problems whatsoever.
We therefore know what they.r®commend is true. The
reason for having Alternate 11 was s6 that -others could
bid since Robbins is the only company that makes both
floors.
Regardless, the Department would be happy with either.
We recommend Outdoor Products as the successful bidder
on standards since they are low and are a very reputable
company, which provides good products and stands behind
their products.

Dear Sir:
Enclosed is our bid for your portable basketball floor.
You ;,rill note that we have bid on your base specifications, as cell as an alter-
nate for our superior "All Star" design. The basic difference between the two
systems is that the "Fair Play" floor is a taro -layer construction of maple floor-
ing over 2 x 3 sleepers. The "All Star" design is a three -layer construction
utilizing a V2" thick plywood subfloor between the maple floor and the 2 x 3
sleepers. This three -layer design is advantageous from the standpoint of pro-
viding longer life writh less maintenance and less problems due to dead spots
than any other system available. :he plywood greatly increases the strength
of the panel to withstand repeated placement and removal. Furthermore, the
plywood totally supports the maple flooring throughout the playing.area so that
at no time does the maple flooring itself absorb all the impact and pounding.
The cross veneers of the plywood will keep the panels true and square even after
years of service. And finally, the plywood provides a tongue and groove syatem
which is clad in metal so that the panels will slide together with a metal--to-
metal contact which will not wear away and -which cannot be easily chipped or
broken.
For these reasons our "All Star" floor is purchased about 90% of the time even
at its higher cost.
The life expectancy of an "All Star" floor over a two -layer design is double.
Furthermore, the life cycle costs for maintenance and repairs will be lower on
the "All Star" construction. Wle would be glad to demonstrate to you the ad-
vantages of this system in person if you so desire.
Our "Fair Play" design, which meets your specifications completely, is equal to
any other floor design (.except the "All Star") that is available. It has the ad-
vantages of a concealed locking system (as opposed to a panel with the locks on
the surface), and also is a square edged panel which makes it quick and easy to
install.
If your budget precludes the purchase of our "All Star" floor, then we are sure
the "Fair Play" floor will more than meet your criteria for a portable basket-
ball floor* Thank you forthis opportunity to bid on your project.
Sincerely,
NS,INC.
