HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - February 5, 1986 (96)RE UES'T REMIIVFD TO RU400 PLAQUE AT LODI ARM The City Clerk presented a petition bearing aPProximately 20 names stating: ,,This letter reflects the feelings of many of those w worked on or supported C.L.I.C. (Central Lodi Improveffert Ccnmittee) regarding a Plaque recently installed on the newly refurbished Lodi Arch. This plaque gives credit for the now ccnPleted downtown improvements to a limited number of people, cmPletely ignoring many progressive downtown merchants and Property owners who gave both time and money to C.L.I.C. It is our belief that if it were not for the two year efforts of C.L.I.C., it is highly unlikely that anything would have 1 been done. While the plaque does include scme of the original supporters, it ccuipletely ignores others who worked very hard for the formation of an improvement district. Walter Sanborn, who had nothing to gain except Pride in his city, chaired C.L.I.C. during its entirety. Yet, to the best of our knowledge, was never publicly thanked. Rather than add names, we think the Plaque should be removed. The improvement in the downtown area is reward enough for those who participated". No formal action was taken by the Council in this matter following discussion. 77777777 City Council City of Lodi 221 W.
