CJVLF2T�.Gi City Manager Peterson reminded the Cutulci.i t}kzt as of
midnight February 1, 1986, the City is without liability
insurance coverage. The staff is vigorously pursuing thre(,
alternate approaches to resolving this dilemma which were
outlined in detail.
Representatives of the B.O.B.S. addressed the C;oun, it
indicating their concern regardu:g this matter as it
related to their organization and their active irnolvc�;r nt
in various City-wide: sports program
A very lengthy discussion followed with question_, beim
directed to the City Attorney, to Still f, and to variou�.-.
representatives of the B.O.B.S. wtiu were in the audience.
On motion of Council I4-nnber Snider, Pinkerton second,
Council authorized the City Winager to sulnut an
application, together with a non-returdable 5500.0(?
filing fee for the City, to joie: the California Joint.
Powers Insurance Authority.
On motion of Council Member Pinkerton, Snider second,
Council ag--eed to indemnify the B.O.B.S. in order for them
to go forward with the remaining Comt Basketball Gawes
which will be ccupleted on February 13, 1986, for B.O.B.S.
Board Meetings and for planning and registration for future
programs. Council agreed that no B.O.B.S. sports activities
will be held after February 13, 1986 until. the City has
coverage.
The motion carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Council Members - Pinkerton, Reid, Snider,
and Hinchrwui Wayor)
Noes: Council Menbers - Olson
Absent: Council Members - None
Following additional discussion, on motion of Council
Member Reid, Olson second, Council agreed to adjourn the
meeting to 7:00 a.m. Thursday, February 6, 1986 to review
various City activities and the City's exposure in
continuing these activities.
On Motion of Council Member Pinkerton, Hinchman second,
Council determined that the City Council, City Staff, and
all City appointed boards and ccnmissions would Lx-
indemnified
eindemnified by the City.

R UMED ACTION: That the City Council c:zsider the staff
presentation regarding the City's absence of
liability insurance crnerage and take action as
deenv--d appropriate.
BACKG1" D INFORMATION: As the City Council is aware, the City will be
without liability insurance coverage as of
midnight. February 1, 1986. The stuff is
vigorously pursuing three alternate approaches to resolving this dilenma
and we will continue to keep the City Council apprised. We will deliver a
prcgress report at Wednesday night's meeting_ In addition, the staff will
present sane reccmrendations regarding certain activities which hopefully
will reduce the City's exposure at this time.
