Gentlemen:
January 13, 1981
The members of the Old LUHS Site Foundation Committee who are
involved in raising money for the purchase of the property far
the future Lodi Community Center, request permission to buy (at
a mutually agreed upon price), the retired La France fire engine
presently located at the Fire Station vo. 3.
The engine will become the property of the Foundation who will
license and insure it. We request your approval to store the
engine at it present location until Field and Fair Day which
has been set for September 7, 1981.`
We plan to sell raffle tickets using the engine as the prize.
The drawing will be on Labor Day. The engine will also be used
for other promotional activities to raise money.
If the raffle winner does not wish to claim his prize, we are
prepared to accept the engine as a donation and have it become
a part of the Lodi Community Center and will be named for the
donor.
We shall seek funds to underwrite the raffle promotion, insurance
and licensing costs and respectfully request the Council's en-
dorsement of this project.

Please be advised that your January 13, 1981 letter regarding
the sale to the Foundation by the City of the retired LaFrance
fire engine presently located at Fire Station #3 was brought
to the Council at its regular meeting held January 21, 1981.
The City Council, by motion action, approved the sale of this
fire engine to the Lodi High School Site Foundation for a
raffle prize at its September 7, 1981 Field and Fair Day under
the conditions set forth in your letter of request dated January
13, 1981.
