HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - January 4, 1984 (22)CITY COUNCIL MEETING JANUARY 4, 1984 FIRE PROTECTION Council was informed in accordance with State Fire SYSTEM FOR Regulations, the City Hall Basement Computer Room requires C 14PUnER ROOM an Automatic around the Clock Fire Protection System. Presently there are no fire sprinklers supplied to this rocm because of the electrical requirements and the damage that would be incurred by dispensinq water on the machines and paper work. The recamnrended fire system is Halon Gas, as �. this would meet all present conditions and further requirements, such as; running proqrams while the building is unattended. The Halon Gas is safe to dispense should there be personnel in the room, the automatic controls would shut char: the heating and air conditioning basement system to confine the gas to the computer room, and audible alarm will alert. City Hall and the Fire Department that the system., is discharging, indicating a fire in the computer roam. The �-. total cost of this installation, including first time 1 certification is $5,500.00. Following discussion, on motion of Mayor Pro Tempore Snider, Murphy second, Council approved a Special Allocation in the amount of $5,500.00 to provide a fire protection system for the Cccmputer Room,. t io h "l • ty, f r - Y C} st 6 l s' h` .f.
