unit and be a separate unit not associated with the General Sarvices
Unit. The Police Se-rgeants, likewise, requested to withdraw from the
Police Unit.
ordinance .3312 authorizes the Municipal allpl.oyee Relations Officer,
the City Manager, to make the determination of unit appropriateness.
It has been determined that the Iblice Dispatchers and Police
Sergeants do have a distinct (--cxl�inity of interest f.om other
employees. The :ndi Police Dispatchers Association has 1. --.en given
formal r.pr-ognition as the representative for the positions of
Dispatcher -Clerk -Jailer, Dispatcher -Clerk -Matron and Police -Technician
effective .January ?, 1984 and are removed from the General Services
Unit. The Police Officers Association of I.,odi no longer is the
majority representative of the Police Sergeants.
The Police Sergeants have asked to be part of the Mid=Management
Group, a re4uest which is heartily recomnended to the City Council.

Re: Decerti:_eation of Lodi Police Officers' Association as
Recogn 4ed Representative of Police Sergeants
The procedures outlined in the City of Lodi Ordinance No. 3312
and City of Lodi Ordinance No. 3344 have been followed in order
to decertify the Lodi Police Officers' Association as
recognized representatives of City of Lodi Police Sergeants.
By copy of this letter, I am informing the Lodi Police
Officers' Association, that effective January 2, 1984, tflat
said Association is no longer recognized as the formal
representative of the Police Sergeants in the City of Lodi for
the purpose of meeting and conferring in good faith on all
matters within the scope of representation.
Further in this req ---rd, per the request of the above -addressed
Sergeants, I am recommending to the Lodi City Council that the
Police Sergeants be included in the City of Lodi Mid -Management
group, effective January 2, 1984.

This letter will confirm the actions of the Lodi City Council taken in a
regular meeting held Wednesday, January 4, 1984, whereby the City Council by
unAnimous vote -designated the City of iedi's six Police Sergeants as Mid -
Management employees of the City of Lodi effective 1/2/84.
