None. BACKGROUND Il i1U AJM- The Lodi Unified School District (LUSD) sent the attached letters requesting the Public Worms Department study the Hm Street and Mills Avenue, and Dm Street and Loma Drive intersections for an adult crossing guard. Staff performed the necessary studies for an adult crossing guard in accordance with the guidelines adopted by Caltrans. The guidelines require that at least 40 elementary school pedestrians use the crossing when going to or from school each of any two hours daily and the traffic volume exceeds 350 vehicles when the majcr street no control. The traffic volume must exceed 500 vehicles when the major street is controlled by stop signs. The results of the vehicle and pedestrian counts are as follows: VOUIMES NECESSARY TYPE OF FORKING AFTERNOON TO SATISFY CONTROL. ON COlw COL NT WARRANT GiARRMT IaZICN MAJOR ST. At the Elm Street/Loma Drive intersection, there have been 2 vehicle versus vehicle accidents and no bicycle accidents for the same time period. There have been no reported pedestrian versus vehicle accidents at either intersection. Both intersections have student patrols and they appear to be controlling the student pedestrians properly. Staff also considered redirecting pedestrians from Elm Street/Mi 1 I Avenue to Elm Street/Loma Drive in order to satisfy the adult crossing ward warrant. However, staff feels crossing pedestrians at a four-way stop intersection with student patrols is safer than at an uncontrolled street with an adult crossing guard. w Hod UrnlOfled aoc ooll diiJAidid POLICE SERVICES 525 West Lockeford Street.
