T0: THE CITY COUNCIL COUNCIL MEETING DATE
FROM: THE CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE October 19, 1988
SUBJECT: APPROVE AMENDED FEE SCHEDULE FOR SERVICES PROVIDED EY LIFE N>IICAL,
INDUSTRIES, INC.
PREPARED 5 Y : City Manager
RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council consider the request of Life
Medical Industries, Inc_ to amend the schedule of
charges for ambulance service in the City of Lodi
and take action as deemed appropriate.
BACKGROUND INFORMATIC Life Medical Industries Inc., operators of the
ambulance service in the City of Lodi, has
submitted a request for City Council approval of
certain adjustments to the ambulance service rate
schedule. The increases are in the 7°o to 7.5% range (with the exception of
the mileage charge which would move from $7.00 to $8.60, an increase of 23%) ,
and are consistent with the County -wide nu&run rate schedule approved by the
Board of Supervisors in September, 1987. There is no change in the Waiting
Time (per 1/2 hour) charge. This new Board -approved rate schedule became
effective May 1, 1988. The ambulance company's request is that these new
rates be effective December 1; 1988. The last rate adjustment was effective
November 18, 1987.
The
City Code provides
that the City Council
"reserves the right to finally
determine and
fix by
resolution, the rates to
be charged by the operator of
the ambulance
service."
INA Mike Ni 1 ssen, or
another representative of the
company, will
be in
attendance at Wednesday
night's meeting to present
this request
and to
answer any questions
Councilmembers may have.
