BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The City is required by the State of California Air Resources Board (ARB) to retrofit existing older heavy-duty diesel vehicles with particulate matter filters to reduce emissions and particulate matter. ARB adopted this non -funded mandate in 2006, requiring public agencies' on -road diesel -fueled heavy-duty vehicles with a gross vehicular weight rating over 14,000 pounds, model years 1960 to 2006, be retrofitted or removed from service, according to a schedule of phased deadlines. This purchase order will cover two of the four remaining City vehicles (Public Works and Electric Utility Departments) in the final phase having a retrofit deadline of December 31, 2011. The City received the following competitive bids on September 12, 2011. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council does hereby approve the purchase order to A -Z Bus Sales, of Sacramento, California, for the purchase and installation of diesel particulate matter filters for two City vehicles, in the amount of $27,344.90.
