Manager
City Council,
_ t
Or Y Ot'SOC ,
I am a proud mother, and I wanted to share howyour Lour High School is Improving my son.
The neighborhoods surrounding the Lodi High School are very welcoming to new students everyyear.
We acceptthe heavy traffic twice a day, and allow the overflow parkingto crowd the streets. We do this
becausewe are proud to be part of the Lodi pride that echoesfrom the school campus. But one issue
has me bothered... and my son is taking action!!!
EveryJuly Lodi High has freshman orientation and a Rally before school starts. And every year banners,
trash, papers, and other garbage gather on the East sidewalk of PacificAve. It is normally not touched
for weeks.
Meanwhile my sons and I take frequent walks around the neighborhood. This small span of filth and
litter is the worst part of our walk.
My son was 3 when he decided that he didn't want to just leave the trash on the ground. (We had
brought him up to know better than that) After the first week of school was over he decided to clean up
our earth, starting with PacificAve. He has been very faithful at doing so. He now picks up the trash
during every school break in July, October, November, December, and March.
We now walk to Reese school every day for Kindergarten (my son is now almost 6), and he continually
asks why the school doesn't pick up the litter that's left by the students. I have yet to give him a good
answer, so I remind him that some people are just too lazy to find a Garbage can.
I know what my son is doing is the right and noble thing, and I feel he should be recognized. You might
feel I am beingtoo proud of his small actions. But I think every mother should! How else are we going to
make this world better, if we don't over applaud our kids to go above and beyond for other people?
My son Roman is an outstanding person and he is anxiousto be apart of Lodi High someday. Please,
commend him for his actions.
A Proud Mot ers' Best Regards,
Angela ngrich
