SUBJECT: PURCHASE OF VARIOUS CLASSES OF WOOD UTILITY POLES
RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council award the bid for the
purchase of 89 wood utility poles, Classes 191 through 3, to the low
bidder, J.H. Baxter & Company of San Mateo, in the amount of $75,634.18.
BACKGROUND INFORMATIDN: On August 2, 1989, the City Council approved
specifications and authorized advertisement for bids. Bids were opened
on August 22, 1989, with the following results:

North Pacific Lumber, Portland 77,620.62
McCormick & Baxter, Stockton78,365.80
McFarland -Cascade , Tacoma 120,335.55
The Electric Utility Department has requested that fifty-six poles be
purchased to construct three new 60KV overhead lines connecting the new
Industrial Substation to the current system. The other thirty-three
poles would be placed in inventory to support the Utility Department's
program of replacing damaged or deteriorating poles currently in
service.
The detail of pole lengths and classes is shown on attachment 1.
The cost of the poles for the 60KV line, $64,835.96, is within the
scope of the overall funding for the Industrial Substation project.
The balance of the cost, for the poles placed in inventory, is
$10,798.22, and represents about one-fifth of the recommended 1989/90
Overhead System Maintenance equipment budget.
Delivery is estimated tc be about 12 weeks after placement of order.

RESOLUTION NO. 89-112
A RESOLUTION OF THE LOBI CITY COUNCIL,
AWARDING THE BID FOR THE PURCHASE OF VARIOUS CLASSES OF WOOD UTILITY POLES
WHEREAS, in answer to notice duly published in accordance with law and
the order of this city Council, sealed bids were received and publicly opened on
August 22, 1989 et 11:00 a.m. for the bid for the purchase of 89 wood utility
poles, Classes H1 through 3, described in the specifications therefor approved by the
City Council on August 2, 1989; and
WHEREAS, said bids have been compared, checked, and tabulated and a
report thereof filed with the City Manager as follows:

WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends that award of the bid for 89 wood
utility poles, Classes H1 through 3, be made to the low bidder, J. H. Baxter & Co.;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVEP by the City Council of the City of Lodi that
award of bid for 89 wood utility poles, Classes H1 through 3 be and the same is
hereby awarded to J. H. Baxter & Co., the low bidder, in the amount of $75,634.18.

I hereby certify that Resolution No. 89-112 was passed and adopted
by the City Council of the City of Lodi in a regular meeting
held September 6, 1989 by the following vote:
