BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This project consists of furnishing and installing a pump and motor f or Well 23. The specifications included provisions for analyzing the bids based on an analysis of future power costs. The 10 bids received from 5 contractors are shown on the attached tabulation. The most efficient pump is the Ingersoll-Rand proposed by Zim Industries. The difference between the low bid (Noack, $19,923) and Zim ($21,225) is $1,302. However, the more efficient pump will save $2,000 within approximately 3 years and more afterwards . The Ingersoll-Rand pump is slightly over the 125 -horsepower specified. The amount is less than 10/oand is well within the safety factor of the motor, thus staff recommends the discrepancy be waived. k3{ Jack L.
