TO: City Council FROM: City Manager NIFENG DATE: August 16, 1989 A f'i1:'L COMMUNICATION AGENDA TITLE: Traffic Resolution Amendment - Establish Brandywine Drive as a Through Street RECOMMENDED ACHON That the City Council establish Brandywine Drive as a through street and adopt a resolution amending the Traffic Resolution. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Stuff has received two requests for improving traffic, controls on Brandywine Drive. Both of these requests are at "T" intersections and have no existing controls. A recent count on Brandywine Drive shows the volume -is approximately 3,000 vehicles per aay. The City's informal guideline for considering establishing a through street is the street must have volumes of approximately 2,000 or more vehicles per day and be used as a minor collector. Srandywine Drive meets this criteria and was designed to collector street standards. The speed limit is 35 mph and it is appropriate that the cross streets be controlled. Therefore, it is recommended it be established as a through street. This designation will require stop signs to be installed on minor streets intersecting Brandywine Drive (see attached exhibit). %t Ja L.
