SUBJECT: Purchase of playgrcund equipment for Blakely Park
PREPARED BY: Ron Williamson, Director, Parks and Recreation
RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council allow Parks and Recreation
Department to add an additional $2,329.56 to the
purchase price of playground equipment/installation
at Elakely Park. There was an error in figuring equipment installation
costs by Miracle Playground Equipment Co.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Please first of all refer to Council Com-
munication of July 5, 1989, for details
on original request, together with
playground layout and Miracle quote sheet.
When Miracle sales representative, Dale Green, gave me the quote on
the playground equipment, he accidentally quoted a figure for one (1)
Swing Set each of Strap Seat and Tot Seat types and it should have
been for two (2) each. This would additionally add $500.00 to our
installation fee, which would add the amount of $2,329.56 to the
original quote of $26,415.92, for a final total of $28,745.48 for
said equipment and installation.
As is stated on the original Council Communication, the funding for
this project is under a Community Development Block Grant approved
by City Council in 1988 and would be fully covered with the addition
of the $2,329.56 figure.
My apologies for this error and the fact it has had to be reviewed
by you twice. Your approval of these funds will speedily allow us
to purchase and install said equipment *n a timely manner.
