SUBJECT: CONSIDER REQUEST TO APPLY FOR THIRD YF..AR GRANT FOR DRUG SUPPZESSION PROGRAM
IN SCHOOLS
Lodi Police Department requests permission to apply for a third
year of funding from the Office of Criminal Justice Planning
(OCJP) Suppression of Drug Abuse'in Schools Program (DSP).: We
apply is conjunction with Lodi Unified School District and each
local entity matches State funding.
The second year of. the DSP Grant ends September 34 and the third
and final year begins October 3; 1989. We are applying_
for a
5f?/5fl Match.'with.the State providing $23,779.
This being foradditional funding
the last year;, we are asking t g
to buy individual curriculum for all schools, grades 3-6. The
curriculum will be "Here's Looking At You 2,000." The total
needed to provide this curriculum and salary for one full-time
:officer in the schools is $29,186.50 each from City of Lodi and
LUSD.
Captain Martin will be in attendance if there are any questions.

WHEREAS, the City of Lodi desires to undertake a projlect
designated as Suppression Of Drug Abuse Iii Schools, to be funded from.
funds made available through Chapter 952, Statutes of 1383 for the
Suppression Of Drug Abuse In Schools Program (DSP), administered by.
the Office of Criminal Justice Planning (OCJP); and
WHEREAS, to continue participation in such ,program,. 1t.is,'.Dow
necessary that the City apply for. a third year of funding from :OCJP;=
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Manager 1 s. .
authorized, on Lodi's behalf, to submit an application for funds for
the suppression of drug abuse, to OCJP for a third year of funding,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the applicant agrees to provide all
matching funds required for the project (including any amendments)
under the Suppression Of Drug Abuse In Schools Program and the rules
and regulations of OCJP, and that funds will - be appropriated as
required thereby.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that grant funds received hereunder shall
not be used to supplant expenditures controlled by this body.

OFFICE OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE PLANNING
SUPPRESSION OF DRUG ABUSE IN SCHOOLS PROGRAM
RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL
VVHERFAS, the City of Lodi desires to undertake a certain project designated as
Suppression of Drug Abuse in Schools to be funded from funds made available
through Chapter 952, Statutes of 1983 for the Suppression of Drug Abuse in
Schools Program (DSP), administered by the Office of Criminal Justice. Planning
(hereafter referred to as OCJP).
MOU, THEREFORE, BE IT HESOLQID that the City Manager of the City of. Lodi. . is
authorized, on its behalf, to submit an application for funds for suppression
of drug abuse purposes to OCJP and is authorized to execute, on behalf of Lodi
Police Department, the Grant Award for suppression of drug abuse purposes
including any extensions or amendments thereof. Copies of the application and
the Grant Award are on file in the office of the City Clerk.
BE IT FURTHER FINOLUED that the applicant agrees to provide all matching funds
required for the project (including any amendments) under the Suppression of
Drug Abuse in Schools Program and the rules and regulations of OCJP and that
funds will be appropriated as required thereby.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that grant funds received hereunder shall not be used to
