SUBJECT: CONSIDER REQUEST TO ADOPT RESOLUTION N SUPPORT OF THE SCHOOL FUNDING FOR
INSTRUCTIONAL PA%VEVENr AND ACCOUNTABILITY INITIATIVE
I have received a request from the proponents of the School Funding for Instructional
Improvement and Accountability Initiative for the City Council to consider adopting a
resolution of support.
Schools must have a stable source of funding in order to plan for future growth and program
development and it is proposed that this initiative will provide a constitutional funding
"floor" by providing an annual cost -of -living adjustment and funding to reflect the growth
in student population and provide additional funding for classroom programs and personnel.
The initiative petition
has not yet been filed with the S. retary of State.
It must .be
filed by June 6, 1988 in
order to quiEi.i fy or the November
bai ot.
