CITY CLERK
Ci T Y OF LC0I.
The City Council, at its last meeting of April 5, 1989, questioned the
Highway 12 speed limit between Lower Sacramento Road, where a new signal has
recently been installed, and Ham Lane.
It appears that based on the signing in the field, the speed limit is 55 Mph
coming from the rest up to takeshore Drive (1,000 feet east of mills Avenue)
and 40 mph from this point to the east. 'Ilse concern of the Council is that
the 40 mph does not .run through the Full limits of the City and they asked
whether or not the 40 mph limit should be extended to Lower Sacramento Road.
Since the State of California does all of the speed zone studies and signing
on the State highways, me do not have, sufficient data to answer the
Council's concerns in this area. Our traffic technician contacted the
District 10 Traffic Branch and was told the last speed check was in August
1987. However, your technician declined to mail us a copy for our review.
?he City of Lodi therefore formally requests that you review the situation
and that me be provided with copies of up-to-date speed zone studies so that
me can respond t o the Council's concern on this item.
