RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council award the contract for the above
project to Layne Western Company, Inc. in the amount of $5,060.00.
BACKGROUNDINFORMATION: This project is for the abandonment of Well No. 11.
't`Fie well i s an open hole type well, d r I I e d i n 1959. It has been out of
service since 1981 for high dibromochloropropane (DBCP) test results and
excess sand production. Past attempts to rehabilitate problem wells of this
type have been costly and generally not successful. Therefore, abandonment
i s recommended. See attached vicinity map.
Plans and specifications for this project were approved on February 15, 1989.
The City received the following three bids for this project:

A RESOLUTION OF THE LOCI CITY COUNCIL
AWARDING THE CONTRACT FOR WATER WELL NO. 11 ABANDONMENT
6013 EAST HIGHWAY 12
WHEREAS, in answer to notice duly published in accordance with law and
the order of this City Council, sealed bids were received and publicly opened or,
March 1, 1989 at 11:00 a.m. for the contract for Water Well No. 11 Abandonment, 6013
East Highway 12, described in the specifications therefor approved by the City
Council on February 15, 1989; ana
WHEREAS, said bids have been compared, checked, and tabulated and a
report thereof filed with the City Manager as follows:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lodi that
award of contract for Water Well No. 11 Abandonment, 6013 East Highway 12 be and the
same i s hereby awarded to Layne Western Company, Inc., the low bidder, in the amount
o f $5,060.00.
