COUNCIL COMMUNICATION Im AGENDA TITLE: Post for Vacancies on the Lodi Animal Advisory Commission MEETING DATE: PREPARED BY March 7, 2012 City Clerk RECOMMENDED ACTION: Directthe City Clerk to post for vacancies on the Lodi Animal Advisory Commission. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Two terms on the Lodi Animal Advisory Commission recently expired with neither member applying for reappointment. During that posting period, no other applications were received, and it is recommended that Council direct the City Clerk to re -post for these now vacation positions. Additionally, the bylaws of the Animal Commission state that any memberwho misses three consecutive regular meetings of the Commission without leave of absence from the Commission expressed in its official minutes shall be deemed to have vacated the office. One member has missed in excess of that, and at the request of the Lodi Animal Advisory Commission, it is recommended that the City Council direct the City Clerk to post for that vacancy. Government Code Section 54970 et sea. requiresthat the City Clerk post for vacancies to allow citizens interested in serving to submit an application. The Lodi Animal Advisory Commission meets at 6:00 p.m. on the 2"d Monday of each month in the Community Room at the Lodi Police Department and consists cf 7 members, each serving 3 -year terms. Applications are now being accepted to fill 3 vacancies, one which is due to expire on December 31, 2013, and two which are due to expire on December 31, 2014.
