The Public Works Department is responding to your concerns raised at the
December 16,1992 City Council Meeting underthe comments by the public on non -
agenda items portion of the meeting. City staff reviewed these items based on an
earlier inquiry.
We have scheduled a speed limit study shortly after the completion of the Centura
Boulevard extension to Stockton Street now underway in conjunction with the Bangs
Ranch Project In order to be radar enforceable, these studies must include
measurement of prevailing speeds, accident rates and other factors in accordance with
State law. They take a fair amount of staff time and any work done nowwould be
quickly invalidated with the completion of the Bangs Ranch Project since conditions will
have changed. We estimate we will be able to take the establishment of a speed limit
to the City Council in the summer of 1993. We will make sure you are notified of this
meeting and receive a copy of the staff reportwe send to the City Council.
With regard to tie truck restrictions, we are working on a City-wide report on trick
related problems which we hope to take to the City Council in Februaryor March 1993.
We wiH include your concerns in this study and will send you a copy of this reportwhen
it is available.
In the meantime, if you have any questions or comments, please contact
Paula Fernandez or Rick Kiriu in our Traffic Engineering Division at 333-6706.
Thank you for expressing your interest in traffic safety.
