BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The attached addendum modifies the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the City and Lodi Professional Firefighters Association. Rather than renegotiate a new MOU, the City and the Lodi Professional Firefighters have reached a tentative agreement to extend the current MOU through December 31, 2011 and revise the method for probationary firefig hter shift trades. Please refer to the attached Addendum for the revised language related to probationaryfirefighter shift trades. FISCAL IMPACT: None. FUNDING AVAILABLE: Not applicable. Respectfully submitted, DW GuAk?j,, Auew Lplurces M&hWr QA41 —q Jordan Ayers, Deputy City ManajKer/Internal Services Director APPROVED: ( _-_ Konradt Bartlam, Interim City Manager ADDENDUM TO THE LODI PROFESSIONAL FIREFIGHTERS MOU The City of Lodi and the Lodi Professional Firefighters currently operate under a Memorandum of Understanding effective July 7, 2007 through December 31, 2010, as amended by Addendum dated February 2009. Members of the bargaining group and the City agree to the following modifications to the existing MOU: ® Extend the current Memorandum of Understanding through December 31, 2011. ® Modify Section 28.1 to read as follows: "A firefighter while on initial probation may initiate shift trades for a hardship, in writing, with approval by their Captain and Battalion Chief. Shift trades for probationary firefighters are acceptable for attendance at approved training classes or seminars." This Addendum shall not become effective until approved by the Lodi City Council.
