FROM: THE CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE SEPTEMBER 19, 1990 SUBJECT: REJECTION OF BIDS FOR TWO 1200KVAR SWITCHED CAPACITOR BAMKS FOR THE ELECTRIC UTILITY DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council reject all bids received for two 1200KVAR Switched Capacitor Banks, and authorize re -advertise- ment for bids. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: On August 15, 1990, the City Council approved specifications and authorized advertisement for bids for two 1200KVAR Switched Capacitor Banks. Three bids were received, and opened on September 5, 1990. Two of the bids contained discrepancies in the unit prices, and the third bid contained an exception to the specifications which was deemed unacceptable by the Electrical Engineering Department. It is therefore recommended that all three bids be rejected, and that new bids be requested and re -advertised with an opening date of Wednesday, October 3, 1990. The estimated cost of this purchase, $8,000, has been budgeted and is available in the Electric Utility Department's operating fund. �60 E.
