RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council award the bid for the
purchase of 56 polemount transformers to the bidders whose roposals
and equipment met all Electric Utility Department specifications, and
whose transformers yielded the lowest overall life -cycle costs:

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: On June 6, 1990, the City Council approved
specifications and authorized advertisement for bid. Bids were opened
on August 7, 1990. A summary of the results of the bid and of the
evaluation are shown on Attachment 1.
Transformer proposals are evaluated by combining estimated costs of
t losses during operation with the bid price to yield an estimated total
life -cycle cost. Bidders proposing equipment which have the lowest
life -cycle cost while meeting specifications are recommended to be
awarded the bid.
Funding for this purchase is available in the Electric Utility
Department's Operating Fund.

AWARDIlVC THE BID FOR THE PURCHASE OF 56 POLE -MOUNT TRANgUOA ZS
VEW_A� in answer to notice duly puolished in accordance with law and
the order of this City Council, sealed bids were received and publicly opened on
August 7, 1990 at 11:00 a.m. for the bid for the purchase cf 56 pole -mount
transformers, described in the specifications therefor approved by the City Council
on June 6, 1990; and
W11atM said bids have been compared, checked, and tabulated and a
report thereof filed with the City Manager as shown on Exhibit A attached hereto: and
WHEREAS,, the City Manager recommends that award of the bid for 56
pole -mount transformers, be made to bidders whose proposals and equipment met all
specifications and yielded the lowest overall life -cycle casts, as follows:

in the amount of $39,449.57.
