Joaquin's Public Worms Director concerning appointments to the raw Couurty Transportation Advisory Commission. This matter will appear on the agenda for the regular City Council meeting of Wednesday, August 1, 1990. Your attention is particularly directed to the last page which is a fact sheet setting forth the specifics of this commission. The 14 -member commission will include one elected official flim each incorporated city. It appears that the commission will meet monthly on a day to be designated later. The meetings will start a t 11:30 am, and will be held in the Agricultural Commissioner's Auditorium, 1868 E. Hazelton Avenue, Stockton. The Committee will now be known as the San Joaquin County Transportation Advisory Commission. The Commission's purpose, to provide advisory direction to the County Board of Supervisors on transportation issues, both intra and inter -County from the community perspective, remains the same but its role is being expanded. San Joaquin County faces a number of major decisions and challenges regarding its transportation infrastructure. The new Commission has the potential to effect transportation issues and policy throughout the County, but its success is dependent upon its membership and their determination to meet their objectives. Please see the enclosed fact sheet for detailed information on the Commission's membership and objectives. OBJECTIVES: - To become informed on transportation issues affecting San Joaquin County. - To obtain as overview of the various County transportation committees. - To define & priortize those transportation issues of greatest importance. - To recommend to the Board of Supervisors issues of priority in transportation. - To respond to specific requests from the Board of Supervisors for citizens input. - To assist in the promotion of financing for transportation purgoses. - To provide a conduit between the Board & the Community through a public awareness program. MEETING ate: Meetings are held on the INFORMATION: of each month at 11:30 a.=. 292nm; for business meetings, 7 members present constitute a quorum. Attendance: Members who are absent from 50% of the meetings in a 12 month period, shall, subject to Commission review, have their membership terminated.
