MEETING DATE: April 6,201 1 PREPARED BY: Community Development Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: Set a public hearing for April 20, 2011, to approve the Final 2011/12 Action Plan for the Community Development Block Grant Program. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: A Public Hearing is required as part of the federal requirements of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, set by the U.S. Departmentof Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The Action Plan is the annual implementing document for the 2009-14 Consolidated Plan and provides a detailed description of each activity proposed for the fiscal year. It also contains the City's CDBG budget and goals for the fiscal year. The Draft 2011/12 Action Plan was reviewed and approved by the City Council on March 16, 2011. The 30 -day Public Review and Comment period began March 19th and will conclude at the Public Hearing. Any public comments that were received during that 30 -day period, and any supplemental information required for the Action Plan document will be provided at the April 201h Public Hearing. The adopted Action Plan document must be submitted to HUD no later than May 15, 2011 in order to receive funding beginning July 1, 201 1 _ FISCAL IMPACT: FUNDING AVAILABLE: KB/jw The Action Plan document is being completed as a pre -award activity that will be reimbursed through the City's CDBG administrative allocation from HUD.
