This vehicle's purchase was not approved in the 1989-90 budget, BACKGROUND INF013MATI0N: Truck 469, the Water Conservation Patrol vehicle is in need of immediate replacement. This 1982 GMC pickup was purchased in June 1983 for $6360 as a used vehicle with 8600 miles recorded on the odometer and currently has 51,000 miles. During the past seven years of patrol the vehicle has had an accumulated repair cost of $3470. Two major expenses have been overhauling the clutch assembly, The Equipment Maintenance Supervisor advises me the vehicle is in need of clutch repair again. He also advises this vehicle witn standard transmission has not and will not stand up to the slow moving, stop and go travel required of our Water Conservation Officers, Therefore it is recommended the purchase of a replacement vehicle prior to the 1990 patrol season (May 15, 1990). The Equipment Maintenance Supervisor has located a low mileage (600 miles) 1990 demo pickup with automatic transmission for about $9750. Additionally, it's believed $1500 could be received from the sale of the existing Truck #69. _ Wi L.
