As school administrators and teachers, we know the importance of conservation, and teach our children accordingly. The responsibility rests on local communities citizens, and the officials we elect to safeguard our environment. Therefore, we respectfully request that you support a resolution that will provide for a study to retain the natiiral resources and open space on the north side of the Mokelumne River, and to work with appropriate officials and legislators at the State and Federal level to ensure the success of our request. Thank you for your continuing response to constituent concerns. Sincerely, Science Task Force, Lodi Unified School District cc: Supervisor George L. Pine Street Lodi Ca. 95240 Dear Lodi City Council: We once lost our undeveloped areas to the productive snare of agriculture. As this land us3 has metamorphosed from vineyards to housing and other forms of sprawling urban development, we are, in my opinion, changing the character of our community in a negative fashion forever. Please preserve some of the open undeveloped space in our region for wildlife and the citizens of our community. I appeal to you to study the benefits of maintaining undeveloped areas as wildlife habitat and open space. Please preserve the Mokelumne River in San Joaquin County and especially along the north side of Lodi's city limits. This area has been very important to me and it would be an inexcusable mistake to deny our ancestors the same opportunity to enjoy this beautiful riparian habitat. Save some of what makes our community a wonderful place to live! Sincerely, Timothy W. Chapman 1745 Cape Cod Circle Lodi, California 95242 (209) 334-1754 1/17/90 Lodi City Council 221 W.
