RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve plans and specifications and authorize advertisement for
bids for Municipal Service Center (MSC) shop decommissioning
project.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This project, located at the MSC, consists of removal and disposal
of the 2,000 -gallon waste -oil underground storage tank and
related piping, removal and disposal of four hydraulic lifts, removal
and salvage of exhaust recovery system, environmental testing of
soils and decontamination rinsing fluid, removal and disposal of demolition debris, backfill, compaction,
sub -grade prep, concrete placement, and other incidental and related work.
In 2007, City Council awarded a contractfor the construction of a new state-of-the-art Transit Vehicle
Maintenance Facility located at the MSC to replace the existing shop. The waste oil tank and hydraulic
lifts are not planned to be used in the future. Removing them will allow the existing building to be used
for a different purpose in the future.
The plans and specifications are on file in the PublicWorks Department. The planned bid opening date
is February4, 2011. The project estimate is $45,000.
FISCAL IMPACT: This project has already been included in the FY 2010/1 1 budget.
