Bid or>(_-rjing is ,scheduled for Tuesday, January 24, 1989. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Each year the Parks Department purchases ferti.l.izer for use on the City's 208 acres of parks. It 1e the Department's intent; to buy slow-release commercial fertilizer which provides recommended amounts of required nutrients and maximizhrl coverage per ton, yet releases nitrogen over an extended period to reduce tt)e need for re-application. The formula required in the specifications is designed to fulfill those needs at a loNer cost per acre per year than water soluble fertilizers which re,gtalre more frequent. application.
