COUNCIL COMMUNICATION T0: City Council FROM: City Manager MEETING DATE: January 4, 1989 AGENDA TITLE: Adopt a Resolution Amending the Traffic Resolution to Approve Speed Limits on Alnnxi Drive, Crescent Avenue, Hm Lade, Harney Lane, Mills Avenue, Stockton Street, Tokay Street, and Turner Road RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council approve the speed limits as shown below an—F adopt a resolution amending the Traffic Resolution. BACKGKOUND_I_NFORMATION: Based on Vehicle Code Section 40802, in order to use radar enfo>vement} it is necessary to conduct engineering and traffic studies every five years on "non local" streets. "Non local streets are the collector and arterial streets shown on the Federal Aid System Maps. The engineering studies include measurement of prevailing speeds by a radar survey and review of accident data. The Public Waits staff has recently updated the engineering studies for eight streets (see attachments) for the reasons noted below. The recommendations have been reviewed with the Police Department.
