AGENDA TITLE: Contract Change Order - Lodi Lake Picnic Facilities

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This information is being given to the City Council
in accordance with the contract change order policy
approved by Resolution 85-72. One of the requirements of
this policy i s that vie inform the City Council of a I I
change orders over the larger of $5,000 or 10" of the contract amount.
This attached contract change order, approved by the City Manager, was i n the amount
of $20,110 which i s 20.671 of the contract. The major items of work in this change
order are:
1) Installing lights in the Hughes Beach and South Point picnic
structures
2) Increasing the parking lot size in the Hughes Beach area
3) Installing electrical conduit for future lighting in the youth group
area
The City has a State grant of $140,000 tO help pay for the design End construction
of the picnic facilities at Lodi Lake. $20,000 wac alsc appropriated from the
General Fund to meet the original project estimate of 5160.000. Tvw conditions of
the grant were that the City use its 520,000 first and any money remaining in the
account at the completion of the project must be returned to the State.
Richard Bigler and Associates. the architect for this project. revised his construc-
tion estimate to $190,000 just prior to putting the plans and specifications out to
bid. Bid items were deleted to keep the project within budget and K Marc Lee. Inc.
was the low bidder at $97.500.
The additional work shown in the change order w i I I reduce the amount of money that
must be returned. The project officer from the State Parks and Recreation
Department has reviewed and approved the changes in the scope of work.
