The requested rate adjustment would increase electric
revenues by approximately $36,986,000 and gas revenues
by approximately $10,595,000 for an overall increase of
$47,563,000 to become effective January 1, 1992, a rate
increase of less than one percent. This change in
revenue is needed to cover a projected increase in cost
of capital due to projected higher interest rates and
changes in economic, regulatory and business risks for
PG&E.
The state, counties and municipal corporations, and any
other parties interested in the above-mentioned filing
can obtain a copy of Application No. 91-05-016 and
related exhibits upon written request made to Kermit R.
Kubitz, Pacific Gas and Electric Company, 77 Beale
Street, Room 3022, San Francisco, CA 94106.
This notice is given in accordance with Rule 24 of the

Subject: Applications Recently Filed with the Public Utilities Commission by
Pacific Gas & Electric for Rate Increases
Pursuant to an earlier request for information, please be advised that recently
Pacific Gas and Electric C.an>pany (PG&E) has submitted the following
applications with the California Public Utilities Commission (PUC) requesting
authority to increase its electric and gas rates:
a) Application No. 91-04-003 filed April 1, 1991 requesting a $264.8
million increase in electric rates to cover forecasted expenses as
estimated by PG&E. This would approximate a three to four percent
increase. If approved the rate increase would be effective January 1,
1992.
This application also includes a request for a $10.2 million increase
of its gas rates.
b) Application No. 91-05-016 filed OR My 8, 1990 (please note that in
checking with the PUC and PG&E, this date should be May 8, 1991)
requesting rate adjustments that would increase electric revenues by
approximately $36,986,000 and gas revenues by approximately
$10,595,000 to become effective January 1, 1992, a rate increase of
less than 1%. PG&E indicates that this change in revenue is needed to
cover a projected increase in cost of capital due to projected higher
interest rates and changes in economic, regulatory, and business risks
for PG&E .

16 notice that in Application 91-04-003, filed April 1, 1991,
with the California Public Utilities Commission, it has

18 requested authority to increase its electric and gas rates.
If approved as requested, these rate changes would be

effective January 1, 1992.

PG&E has requested a $264.8 million increase in

electric rates to cover the forecasted expenses, as estimated
24
by PG&E, of energy production and purchased -power costs, and
25
costs associated with new and expanded electric Customer
26
Energy Efficiency (CEE) programs. Last year the Commission

approved PG&E's CEE programs to assist our customers'
conservation and efficiency efforts.
PG&E has also requested a $10.2 million increase of
its gas rates. This request is made to fund new and expanded
gas CEE programs.
