No action is required. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: In accordance with the Contract Change Order Policy, the City Council is being informed of change orders approved by the City Managerfor this project since the July 16, 2008 Council meeting. Council also authorized the concrete lining of Sludge Lagoon No. 1 (Change Order No. 31) at the July 16, 2008 meeting. The original contract for this project was $16,387,000. The total cost of change orders to date is $7,008,720, which is 42.8% of the original contract. Excluding Change Order No. 11 (emergency slip lining of the domestic outfall), the total of the other changes are 15% of the original contract. The project is approximately 92% complete. Detailed below is a description of the work involved in the change orders. Complete descriptions and backup information for these change orders are available in the Public Works Department. Change Order No. 31 - This change order is for concrete lining of Sludge Lagoon No. 1 as authorized by City Council on July 16, 2008. ($787,585) Change Order No. 32 - This change order is for changes to the UV system to assist in plant operation maintenance, code -required hand rail at DigesterNo. 4, and a new sample pipe to the domestic outfall pipe for laboratory testing needs. ($26,148) Change Order No. 33 - This change order is for changes in the Administration building, including adding an office for the Chief Operator and increasing the size of the men's locker room. ($44,078) Change Order No. 34 - This change order is for electric control changes to various Load Control Panels (LCP's) for proper control and monitoring of equipment. The work is to bring the control system for older equipment on line with the new SCADA system. ($38,862) Change Order No. 35 - This change order is for substantial work related to electrical grounding of the old electric service system at the facility. Additional grounding wires and controls are necessary to increase worker safety at the plant. The City and the contractor have worked with an electrical engineering firm to design a safer electric system at the facility. ($391,996) Change Order No. 36 - This change order is for purchasing and installing 12 new Variable Frequency Drives (VFD's) to replace aging and unreliable equipment. By purchasing this equipment through the contractor, the City is saving $60,000. ($330,793) The total contract to date is $23,395,720.
