BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The contract for this projectwas executed with Granite Construction of Watsonville, California on May 7, 2008, in the amount of $83,677. This project consisted of installing 980 lineal feet of 6 -inch wastewater pipe, constructing four wastewater manholes, reconnecting 14 wastewater laterals, and other incidental and related work. The final contract price was $87,262.86. The difference between the contract amount and the final contract price was due to Contract Change Order No. 1 which was issued to compensate the contractor for additional labor, equipment and material used to perform work around existing utilities. Contract Change Order No. 1 also included work done to add more slope to an existing wastewater service lateral. Following acceptance by the City Council, as required by law, the City Engineerwill file a Notice of Completion with the County Recorder's office. The notice serves to notify vendors and subcontractors that the project is complete and begins their 30 -day period to file a stop notice requiring the City to withhold payments from the prime contractor in the event of a payment dispute. FISCAL IMPACT: There will be a slight increase in the long-term maintenance of the added wastewater pipe and manholes. However, this projectwill also decrease the amount of maintenance required for service of the laterals in this area. FUNDING AVAILABLE: Wastewater Capital (171010) funds were used to cover the costs for this project. hdatA4 F.
