AGENDA TITLE: Approve Plans and Specifications and Authorize Advertisement for Bids for
Lodi Public Library Phase 1 Remodel Project

RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve plans and specifications and authorize advertisement for
bids for the Lodi Public Library Phase 1 Remodel Project.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Lodi Public Library has been working with their architect to
develop plans to renovatethe Lodi Public Library. The Library
Board has decided to implement the renovation as a phased
project. Phase 1 includes renovation of the main lobby public
restrooms and staff restrooms to meet ADA requirements, new ADA door hardware, new entry tile, new
service desk, new employee work stations (including voice and data cabling), and new floor coverings
and paint in these areas. Working with Library staff, Wenell Mattheis Bowe, the architect, has completed
plans and specifications for the Phase 1 project. A drawing of the proposed floor plan is attached for
reference as ExhibitA.
Council is being asked to approve the plans and specifications and authorize advertising for bids for the
project. The Library main entry ramp and building HVAC are being addressed under separate projects
concurrently with Phase 1
The plans and specifications are on file in the Public Works Department.
FISCAL IMPACT: The approximate construction cost is $690,000
FUNDING AVAILABLE: Funding by the Library Fund (211814) approved in Fiscal Year 08/09 Budget.
