RECOMMENDED ACTION: Directthe City Clerk to post for one vacancy on the Lodi Arts
Commission and re-postfor seven vacancies on the Greater Lodi
Area Youth Commission (Student Appointees).
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The City Clerk's Office received a letter of resignation from Lodi Arts
Commissioner, Laura Heinitz (on file in the City Clerk's Office). In
addition, there were not enough applications received for the seven
vacancies on the Greater Lodi Area Youth Commission, and it is
requested that the City Council direct the City Clerk to post for an additional 15 -day period. Itis,
therefore, recommended that the City Council direct the City Clerk to post for the vacancies below:

Government Code Section 54970 et seq. requires that the City Clerk post for vacancies to allow citizens
interested in serving to submit an application. The City Council is requested to direct the City Clerk to
make the necessary postings.

ANNOUNCEMENT
One(I)Vacancy
on the Lodi Arts Commission
The City of Lodi is currently accepting applications for
the Lodi Arts Commission, developed to inspire,
encourage, and promote the arts in the community.
The Lodi Arts Commission meets at 12:00 noon on
the 2' d Wednesday of each month at the Thomas
Theatre Gallery at Hutchins Street Square and consists
of 11 members, each serving 3 -year terms.
Applications are now being accepted to fill one (1)
vacancy, which is due to expire July 1, 2010.
Applications may be obtained from the City Clerk's
Office at 221 W. Pine St,, 2°d floor. For more
information call 333-6702, or access the City's Web
site at www,lodi.ciov.
Appointments to the commission will be made by the
Mayor with Council approval.
Note: You must be registered to vote in San Joaquin
County at the time of application. If appointed, you will
be required to complete a Statement of Economic
Interest. This is a volunteer, unpaid position.
Filing Deadline: Monday, June 23,2008, at 5:00 p,m.

Seven (7) Student Vacancies
on the Greater Lodi Area Youth Commission
The City of Lodi is currently accepting
applications for the Greater Lodi Area Youth
Commission, developed to affect positive growth in
young adults through a variety of activities that will
generate interest and participation within the community.
The Youth Commission meets on the 2nd Monday
of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the Cottage Room at
Hutchins Street Square and consists of 1 City Council
representative, 6 adult advisors serving 3 -year terms, and
9 student members serving 2 -year terms.
Applications are now being accepted to fill seven
(7) student vacancies for two terms, which are due to
expire May 31, 2009, and five terms, which are due to
expire May 31,2010.
Applications may be obtained from the City Clerk's
office at 221 W. Pine Street, 2"d floor. For information,
call 333-6702, cr access the City's Web site at
www.lodi.gov.
Appointments to the Commission will be made by
the Mayorwith Council approval.
