HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - May 21, 2008 E-06AGENDA ITEM &6 Agh CITY OF LODI COUNCIL COMMUNICATION TM AGENDA TITLE: Accept Improvements Under Contract for City of Lodi Public Library Lighting Retrofit Project MEETING DATE: May21,2008 PREPARED BY: Public Works Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: Accept the improvements under the "City of Lodi Public Library Lighting Retrofit Project" contract. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The project was awarded to Quantum Energy Solutions, of Rancho Murieta, on November 21, 2007, in the amount of $36,967. The contract has been completed in substantial conformance with the plans and specifications approved by City Council. The contract completion date was March 3, 2008, and the actual completion date was April 23, 2008. The differencewas due primarily to equipment and material delivery delays and scheduling difficulties. The final contract price was $33,329, due to a deduct to eliminate the reflectors from many lighting fixtures, saving the City of Lodi $3,638. Following acceptance by the City Council, as required by law, the City Engineerwill file a Notice of Completion with the County Recorder's office. The notice serves to notify vendors and subcontractors that the project is complete and begins their 30 -day period to tile a stop notice requiring the City to withhold payments from the prime contractor in the event of a payment dispute. FISCAL IMPACT: The City anticipates saving approximately $1,000 per month of energy costs at the Library. FUNDING AVAILABLE: Public Benefit Funds (164605) F.
