HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - April 21, 2009 B-02 SMAGENDA ITEM 6'070� CITY OF LODI COUNCIL COMMUNICATION TM AGENDA TITLE: Approve the Proposed Expenditure Program for Lodi's Share of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act's Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant MEETING DATE: April 21, 2009 PREPARED BY: City Manager RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve the proposed expenditure program for Lodi's share of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act's Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG). BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (aka the Stimulus Program) includes one-time funding under the JAG grant for local criminal justice and criminal justice programs. Lodi has been offered a one-time $150,000 grant administered through San Joaquin County. The mechanics of the grant require that the Board of Supervisors approve the expenditure for all the cities in the County as well as the County, and then all the cities need to approve the expenditure for the cities and the County. This all must be accomplished prior to May18"'. Lodi must meet a deadline to submit its proposed expenditures to the County by Monday, April 20s . As this is one-time money, it is proposed to fund technology ratherthan personnel with these windfall funds, specifically, the following: County Administrative fee @ two percent (required) $ 3,000 Portable radios (digital requirement by 2011) 70,000 Wireless broadband (2 yrs) 36,000 OSSI hardware, software and licensing 25,000 Mug shot County interface 10,000 Mobile Command vehicle upgrades 6,000 $150,000 FISCAL IMPACT: This is one-time revenue.
