BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Parks and Recreation staff has extensively researched handicap accessible canoe and kayak launches for the newly installed boat house. The components offered through EZ -Dock of Monet, MO is the only floating dock and lift system man ufactu rer that offers a port built system specifically for canoes and kayaks. The modular components will include an accessible aluminum gangway attached to the existing concrete boat house decking, (5) floating dock sections and (1) handicap accessible canoe and kayak launch installed by EZ -Dock. The launch will provide new recreational class opportunities for the casual and advanced kayaker interested in fishing, photography or general paddle use of the lake or river. Lodi Municipal Code 3.20.070 allows the dispensing of bids when City Council determines it is the best method of purchase. Staff recommends the non-competitive purchase of the EZ -Dock components and installation. FISCAL IMPACT: There is no direct impactto the Parks and Recreation Department budget for the EZ -Dock components and installation. The funds in the Parks and Recreation donation account will support the purchase and installation of this project in its entirety. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council does hereby approve the non-competitive purchase of boat dock components and installation of components to EZ -Dock, of Monet, MO, for the Lodi Lake boat house improvements in an amount not to exceed $35.495.
