BA( KGR)UND INFORMATION: There is currently a vacancy in the Public Works
Department due to the loss of an Engineering Technician
to the Electric U(ility Department. This creates a groat
hardship in the Public Works Department engineering
division.
Mr. Barnes has worked as an Intern in the Public Works Department since June 198-E3,
He is familiar with many of the division functions and duties and is also proficient
in the use of the automated computer-aided drafting s ystm, Autocad, This system is
an integral part of the work in the onginoorinq division.
Mr. Barnes is currently a student at a cormnity college and plans to transfer to �1
four-year institution next year. He will be availabic to work with the City until
August 1993. This time period will dive us the opportunity to review the changing
needs of the Public Works Department and to recruit an employee to meet these ne'As,

A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI C I TY COUNCIL
APPROVING A PERSONAL SERVICES CONTRACT BETWEEN
THE CITY OF LODI AND SCOTT BARNES FCR TRE
POSITION OF ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN

RESOLVED, that the Lodi City Council hereby approves the
Personal Services Contract between the City of Lodi and Scott Barnes
for the position of Engineering Technician as set forth in said
contract, attached hereto as Exhibit A, effective February 17, 1991.

I hereby certify that Resolution No. 92-32 was passed and adopted
by the Lodi City Council in a regular meeting held February 19, 1992
by the following vote:

PERSONAL SERVICES COWntACP

City of Lodi
This is to certify that I. Scott Barnes, begin eWloyment with the City of Lodi
in the position of Engineering Technician at a base salary of $14.17 per hour
(Step Q. The base salary may be modified during the term of this agreement as
prwi ded in the Memorandum of Understanding between the City and the General
Services Unit.
It is understood that it is the City's and any intention to work approximately 32
hours per w"k until June 8, 1992 and 40 hours per week thereafter.
The following terms and benefits are understood:
1. Pb vacation, sick leave, holiday benefits will be accrued;
the hourly salary has been adjusted to include leave compensation.
2. No dental or vision insurance will be provided: the hourly salary has been
adjusted to include this compensation.
3. Medical insurance coverage will be provided by the City.
4. The employee will not be covered by PERS: but will be enrolled in an
eligible retirement system at his cost.
5. The employee will be eligible to receive merit increases based on
satisfactory work performance, in accordance with the current city policy.
This agreement may be terminated under the following circumstances:
1. For cause
2. With 30 days' written notice of the city's desire to terminate the
contract without cause.
3. Upon employee's resignation from City service.
