AGENDA TITLE: Purchase of 210 High Pressure Sodium Luminaires
MEETING DATE: February 5, 1992

ACTION: That the City Council adopt the attached
resolution awarding the purchase of 210 High
Pressure Sodium luminaires to the low bidder,
Deco Utility Supply Company of Vacaville, In the
amount of 513,253.25.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: On November 20, 1991. the City Council approved
specifications and authorized advertisement for
bids. Bids were opened on December 17. 1991;
however, because of ambiguities in the specifica-
tions, bids were not considered comparable, and subsequently were
rejected.
New bids were opened on January 20, 1992. with the following results:
Deco Utility Supply Co.. Vacaville $13,253.25
WESCO Utility Supply, Concord 14,30°.03
Capital Wholesale Electric, Sac. 15,559.10
G.E. Supply Co.. Martinez 15,966.50
This purchase is part of the Electric Utility Department's ongoing
program to replace mercury vapor streetlights with the more efficient
high pressure sodium luminaires.
FUNDING: Funds for this purchase have been budgeted in
the Street Light Maintenance account,
10.0--503.30.

A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUKCIL
AWARDING THE BID FOR THE PURCHASE OF 210 HIGH PRESSURE SODIUM
LUMINAIRES FOR THE ELECTRIC UTILITY DEPARTMENT

WHEREAS, in answer to notice duly published in accordance with
law and the order of this City Council, sealed bids were received and
publicly opened on December 17, 1991 at 11:00 a.m. for the bid for 210
High Pressure Sodium Luminaires for the Electric Utility Department,
described in the specifications therefor approved by the City Council
on November 20. 1991; and
WHEREAS, it was determined that there was a discrepancy in the
equipment specifications. and the bids were rejected and staff was
directed to revise the specifications and readvertise for bids; and
WHEREAS, new bids were received and publicly opened on January
20. 1992, and said bids have been compared, checked, and tabulated and
a report thereof filed with the City Manager as follows:
Deco Utility Supply Co., Vacaville 513,253.25
WESCO Utility Supply, Concord $14,304.03
Capital Wholesale Electric, Sacramento 515,559,10
G. E. Supply Co., Martinez $15,966.50
WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends that award of the bid for
said luminaires be made to the low bidder, Deco Utility Supply Co.;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Lodi City Council that
award of bid for 210 High Pressure Sodium Luminaires be and the same
is hereby awarded to Deco Utility Supply Co., the low bidder, in the
amount of $13,253.25.

I hereby certify that Resolution No. 92-18 was passed and adopted
by the City Council of the City of Lodi in a regular meeting held
February 5, 1992 by the following vote:
