BACKGOOL)ND IINFORMATON: This project includes modifying the traffic signal and striping on Lodi Avenue at Stockton Street to accommodate left -turn lanes. In addition, the project includes installing a new larger cabinet foundation and replacing the cabinet controller equipment at the Elm Street and Ham Lane intersection. On October 25, 2006, the following bids were publicly opened: Steiny and Company $ 68,599 Pacific Excavation, Inc. $ 72,014 Richard. Heaps Electrical $ 77,986 Collins Electric $ 81,300 Engineer's Estimate $ 42,000 The high bid prices may be due to the increased equipment and construction costs for signal modifications on older signal *stems. To reduce costs, staff will be redesigning improvements or combining the project with other similar improvements at a later date. Staff has contacted bidders in order to identify possible cost saving measures we can incorporate into future specifications. FISCAL EIJPACT: Unknown at this time. FUNDING AVAILABLE: Not applicable.
