California's Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Fund (SLESF)

RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt a resolution accepting $122,265 from San Joaquin County via
the State of California's Supplemental Law Enforcement Services
Fund (SLESF).
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: For the past ten (10) years, the City of Lodi Police Department has
received funds from San Joaquin County that were given to them
via the State of California's Supplemental Law Enforcement
Services Fund (SLESF). SLESF is a formulary grant based on
generakzzed population figures determined by the State; this will be our 110 year for receiving these
funds. The Police department uses these funds to support front-line law enforcement needs and
specialized equipment purchases that are not covered in the Police Department's Operating Budget.
The Poke Department plans on continuing the use of these funds for the purchase of safety and
technology equipment. Items purchased include tasers, bicycles and equipment for the downtown bike
patrol, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) safety equipment and safety equipment for our motor
officers. These funds have an expenditure date of two years after the date of generation by the State of
California (June 30, 2009).
FISCAL IMPACT: Total grant of $122,265 for front-line law enforcement needs. No matching funds
are required.

A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL ACCEPTING
FUNDS THROUGH SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY FROM THE
STATE OF CALIFORNIA SUPPLEMENTAL LAW
ENFORCEMENT SERVICES FUND

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council does hereby
accept funds in the approximate amount of $122,265 through San Joaquin County from
the State of California Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Fund.

I hereby certify that Resolution No. 2006-202 was passed and adopted by the
City Council of the City of Lodi in a regular meeting held November 15, 2006, by the
