AGENDA ITEM I)GpZdk& AM CITY OF LODI IV COUNCIL COMMUNICATION TM AGENDA TITLE: National Arts and Humanities Month MEETW ©ATE: October 4, 2006 PREPARED BY: Division of Arts and Culture RECOOMENDED ACTION: Mayor Hitchcock to present a proclamation proclaiming October as National Arts and Humanities Month in the City of Lodi. National Arts and Humanities month is coordinated by Americans for the Arts, the national organization working to empower communities with the resources and support necessary to provide access to all of the arts for all of the people. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This month-long celebration has become the largest annunal celebration of the arts and humanities in the Nation. Thursday, October 5, 2006, the Division of Arts and Culture along with the Lodi Arts Commission will be hosting our fourth annual Arts Open House. Representatives from many of Lodi's Arts Agencies as well as Instructors from the City's Division of Arts & Culture will be on hand to talk about their programs; demonstrate their crafts; and distribute information about their organizations. This free event, suitable for the entire family, will be held from 6:34-8:30pm, in the Kirst Hall at Hutchins Street Square.
