BACKGROUND INFORMAIRON: Mayor Hitchcock was recently contacted by the mother of the seven-year-old boy who won the community art painting at the Lodi Arts Commission's Art on the Square event and was informed that he wished to donate the painting to the City. It is recommended that the City Council accept the donation as part of the City's inventory of public art. At the meeting of August 2, a Resolution of Appreciation will be presented to the young man for his generosity. FISCAL IMPACT: None. FUNDING AVAILABLE: None. STEPHEN SCHWASAUER, City Attorney Thank you very much for your thoughtfulness in offering to donate the artwork you acquired recently at the Lodi Art Festival. It is customary that the City Council first be provided the opportunity accept the donation on behalf of the City of Lodi and its citizens (see enclosed agenda and staff report for the upcoming council meeting.) Assuming that Council accepts the artwork at its regular meeting of July 19, 2006, we would like to invite Hayden to attend the next regular meeting to accept a Resolution of Appreciation from the Council and Mayor Hitchcock. Our office will contact you with more detailed information in the near future regarding the artwork and to confirm Hayden's availability to attend the City Council meeting of August 2, 2006.
