M. Stephens Construction Company, Inc., of Lodi, ($232,365) MEETING DATE: June 7, 2006 PREPARED BY: Public Works Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt a resolution awarding the contract for the 2006 Handicap Ramp Retrofit Project to A. M. Stephens Construction Company, Inc., of Lodi, in the amount of $232,365. BACKGROIJND INFORMATION: This project consists of removing curb, gutter and sidewalk at various intersections in the Community Development Target Area for low to moderate income families and installing handicap ramps to meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other incidental and related work, all as shown on the plans and specifications for the project. This is a unit price bid and the work will be divided into purchase orders which will average $20,000 in price. Although the bid from A. M. Stephens was in the amount of $232,365, the quantities will be increased to use as much of the Community Development Block Grant funds as possible. Plans and specifications for this project were approved on March 1, 2006. The City received the following three bids for this project on April 5, 2006. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council hereby awards the bid for the 2006 Handicap Ramp Retrofit Project to A. M. Stephens Construction Company, of Lodi, California, the low bidder, in the amount of $232,365.00.
