,UCS KASSM
ucinds Kasser is a painter of still life and landscapes. Her love for art emerged
t the sarly age of six, under the influence of her artiit mother, visits to the
Louvre, and first grade field strips to sketch scenes of Paris. She draws her
inspiration from the sights, scents, and sounds of Crdifomia where she lives and
works.
Currently a professor in the Department of Visual Arts at the University of the
Pace in Stockton, California, Kisser served as Chair of the department from
1995 to 2001. Kasser received her formal education at the University of
Maryland, Humboldt State University and California State University,
Sacramento. She has attended a number of workshops taught by Craig Nelson,
Chair of the Fine Arts Department at the San Francisco Art Academy. She has
also studied with contemporary masters, George Strickland, Randall C. Sexton,
and Laurie Kersey.
Kasser's work is held in numerous public and private collections. In 2001, she
was one of 24 artists invited by the Haggin Museum to participate in
Contemporary Artists Paint Yosemite and the Eastern Sierra, an exhibition co-
sponsored by the California Art Club. She was one of 48 artists participating in
the Sea to Shining Sea: A Reflection of America project at the Haggin Museum in
2004 that has culminated in a book and a nationally traveling exhibition, in
addition to other paintings exhibitions at the museum. In 2006, one of Lucinda's
paintings was selected to be the featured image for the annual Sandhill Crane
Festival in Lodi.
1 have chosen in my life and in my work to attempt to see and acknowledge the world as
a miraculous place. This is what inspires me to paint and this is what I hope viewers will
consider as they view my work.
