AGENDA TITLE: Post for Vacancies on the Animal Shelter Task Force, Lodi Arts Commission, and
Lodi Improvement Committee

RECOMNENIDED ACTION: Direct the City Clerk to post for one vacancy on the Animal Shelter
Task Force, one vacancy on the Lodi Arts Commission, and two
vacancies on the Lodi Improvement Committee.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The City Clerk's Office was notified of the resignation of Arts
Commissioner, Rick Buchler, and Animal Shelter Task Force
Member, Hazel Jackson. Additionally, the bylaws of the Lodi
Improvement Committee state that any member who misses three
unexcused meetings within a one-year period, without the consent of one of the board members, shall be
deemed to have vacated the office. Two members have missed in excess of that, and at the request of
the Lodi Improvement Committee Chairperson, it is recommended that the City Council direct the City
Clerk to post for the vacancies below.

Government Code Section 54970 et seq. requires that the City Clerk post for vacancies to allow citizens
interested in serving to submill an application. The City Council is requested to direct the City Clerk to
make the necessary postings.

Animal Shelter Task Force
One vacancy— unspecified term limit
Purpose: To review the needs of the City of Lodi Animal Shelter and to provide
short- and long-term recommendations regarding the Animal Shelter
Meetings: As called
Membership: 7 members
Lodi Arts Commission
One vacancy — term to expire July 1, 2008 (1 -year term)
Purpose: To inspire, encourage, and promote the arts in the community
Meetings: Meets 2"d Wednesday of each month at 12:00 p.m.,
Thomas Theatre Gallery at Hutchins Street Square
Membership: Eleven members
Lodi Improvement Committee
Two vacancies — terms to expire March 1, 2008 (1 -year terms)
Purpose: To maintain and improve the quality of life and appearance of Lodi by
the coordinated efforts of a broad spectrum of the community
Meetings: Meets 1st Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m.,
Lodi Police Department Community Room
Membership: Nine members
Note: Appointments will be made by the Mayor with Council approval. You must
be registered to vote in San Joaquin County at the time of appilcation.
If appointed, you may be required to complete a Statement of Economic Interest.
These are volunteer, unpaid positions.
Applications may be obtained from the City Clerk's office, 221 West Pine Street,
